ORGANIZATION PROFILE

NASCS is a Michigan based non-profit, 501 (C) (3), organization that was founded in 1985.  The goals of the organization are to dispel the myths of aging; to create charity, friendship, sportsmanship and social relationships; to offer competitive outlets to those athletes 50+ years and older on a National and International level; to promote intergenerational role modeling by participating in community activities; and to engage in charitable, civic and educational activities as prescribed by the Internal Revenue Service.  In NASCS's first 20 years, it has been able to accomplish its goals by encouraging senior softball programs across the United States and Canada to develop and grow, and by promoting the Senior Softball World Series® and its Regional Tournaments.

FOUNDER

Ken Maas (1922-2004) – After "retiring" from the insurance business, Ken devoted his time to a life long love and hobby, softball.  He helped the Sporting Goods Manufacturer’s Association organize the Senior Softball World Series and shared his expertise as a member of the Technical Advisory Board for the World Senior Olympics, now known as the World Senior Games in St. George, Utah.  Ken was a true pioneer and leader in promoting senior softball.
